In April
2005, Honors Alumni Tyler Fisher spoke to current Honors students
and alumni over lunch in the Burnett Honors College about his experience
as UCF's first Rhodes Scholar. Topics of discussion included his
meeting with the Queen and Nelson Mandela, what life is like at Oxford,
and the differences between England and the states.
I am thrilled to report that I have just been awarded a Fulbright Program grant for research in Mexico City. My graduate studies in Oxford are drawing to a very satisfying conclusion. I am finishing two books under contract, I will be defending my doctoral thesis this summer, and two Oxford colleges have already offered me fellowships: a postdoctoral fellowship in the Arts at Christ Church, and the Queen Sofía Research Fellowship in Spanish at Exeter College.
